Trump is in good condition following an attempted assassination at his rally.


 Former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Saturday when a gunman opened fire at a rally in Butler, Pa., approximately 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. The U.S. Secret Service reported one fatality and two critically injured adult males, with the gunman killed by Secret Service agents. Trump was quickly escorted off stage, and the rally concluded abruptly.


Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pa., was identified by the FBI as the shooter. Authorities indicated that it was unclear if he acted alone. The Pennsylvania State Police and FBI are leading the investigation into the incident.


In a statement on Truth Social, Trump expressed condolences to the families affected and described being grazed by a bullet that struck near his right ear. He underwent medical evaluation and was confirmed to be unharmed.


Despite the incident, the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee affirmed their plans to proceed with the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis., scheduled to start the following week.


President Biden condemned the violence, calling it "sick," and spoke with Trump to offer support. He emphasized that such acts of violence have no place in the country.
